Peacemaker Interview

  1. What does visual peacemaking mean to you?

As my background is working with kids I have a strong desire to maintain the world for them. I also love inspiring and educating them.

  2. What motivates you to be a peacemaker?

    Kids.

  3. Have you ever felt stereotyped?

Yes, but never in a way that effected me. Thankfully for me, I can only imagine.

  4. How does your camera get you to reflect on your world and your life?

You see the work in HD.
You see colour, light, movement, texture, contrast, patterns and emotions that most miss.

  5. What do you like to photograph best?

People. From the street to the stage, the ring(boxing) to the…anywhere.

  6. What technical aspect of photography do you find most challenging?

I’m only beginning to see light. Not THE light, light.

  7. Is there a particular group you feel is misunderstood or stereotyped that you’d like to document common humanity amongst?

I’d like to share the world with kids. Show them however different we are, we are the same.

  8. Do you have an idea worth sharing?

I like the idea of retail giants having a line dedicated to clothing the world. When you buy a pair of flip flops and pair a $1 extra a kid in an Indian slums get a pair. When you buy a tube of toothpaste you pay a $1 extra and 3 kids in Mongolia get a tube to. Or photos could go on the labels of the products.  Like TOMS(http://www.toms.com/), but for everything.

My Biography

My brother could draw, and I couldn’t. So I became a photographer.
By day I’m a primary school teacher, one of the greatest jobs on Earth. By…the other day I’m a photographer, the other greatest job on Earth. I like photographing things that matter because it makes me work harder to learn my craft. I’m now finding I can improve the lives of others, which is pretty cool…or the greatest feeling on Earth.
